About the Faculty

Ostrava University’s Faculty of Medicine is the youngest medical faculty in the Czech Republic. Based at a campus in the city’s Zábřeh district, the Faculty ranks among Central Europe’s most modern centers of teaching and research for both medical and non-medical fields. Currently, the Faculty has around 1700 students in 27 degree programmes, with over 400 students graduating every year. Graduates are well-equipped to pursue careers in a wide range of medical and healthcare professions.

In our simulation center SIMLEK (training hospital), students can prepare in a calm environment for all the challenging experiences they will face in practice. SIMLEK ranks among the most modern centers of medical teaching and research in the Czech Republic, with state-of-the-art technology and premises.

Hands-on medical training provided from the early years

Teaching at the Faculty is rooted in an individual approach to each student, enabling students to develop their unique skills and realize their full potential as medical and healthcare professionals. Students’ practical skill sets are developed by incorporating practical placements into the teaching system from the very first semester.
