Information about the programme

Applicants with the highest number of points will be admitted to study. Depending on the capacity of the faculty, the total number of admitted candidates and the corresponding minimum point threshold are determined.

If the application has been duly added, the applicant will receive an invitation to the admission test with detailed information and instructions on organisational matters in the e-application system.

Graduate profile and career opportunities

This Master’s programme is completed with the Czech equivalent of the MD degree (MUDr. - Medicinae Universae Doctor), which is fully recognised in the European Union and most other countries and is in accordance with Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications.

Application form and fee

Candidates must submit their application online, pay a bank transfer fee of EUR 80 (2 000 CZK), attach the required documents, and submit it. The fee covers the costs of the admission procedure and will not be refunded if the applicant fails to appear for the admission test.

Date and timetable of the admission procedure
The deadline for submitting the e-application and paying the admission fee for the entrance examinations 2025/2026 is two weeks before the entrance exam date. The entrance examinations will be held on several dates from January to August 2025. The latest deadline for submission of applications is two weeks before the selected entrance examination date.

Dates of entrance examination 2025/2026
The entrance examinations (General Medicine) will be held at the Faculty of Medicine University of Ostrava (June 2025) on-site or online (January – August 2025). Applicants may/should contact our representatives in the selected countries who are ready to help them organize the admissions process. Non-EU nationals may take the entrance exam from January to July, in order to complete the visa application procedure for university enrollment in time. Entrance exams in August are available for EU citizens in particular.

After admission

Upon successful acceptance, the applicant will receive an acceptance letter from the faculty, usually required as part of the visa application. Applicants from countries outside the EU and the Schengen area are strongly advised to apply well in advance. Detailed enrolment information will be sent by letter to applicants who successfully pass the entrance examination and are proposed for admission, subject to the maximum capacity of the programme.

Enrolment

In order to enrol, you must first submit the documents listed below. Students admitted to our faculty through a cooperating agency should consult with their agency regarding all the items listed below.

  • Legalization of high school diploma/certificate
  • Confirmation of the decision to study
  • Enrollment day for all 1st-year students will be held in early September 2025 at the faculty. The date and time of enrollment are binding, and if students do not attend on the due date, they will not be enrolled. An ID card or passport and one passport photo must be presented on the day of enrolment. 

In addition, the following must be provided on the day of enrollment:

  • A valid visa for non-EU and non-Schengen students (they only need a passport or other equivalent ID)
  • Completed documents provided by the University of Ostrava
  • Health insurance

On the day of enrolment, the student will also receive instructions for payment of tuition fees. The fee for the study of general medicine for the academic year 2025/2026 is EUR 12 000 and is tax-free. Tuition fees do not include the cost of general health insurance, textbooks, accommodation and living expenses. The University requires each student to pay the tuition fee by bank transfer and any bank charges for this transfer are to be paid by the student (payer) so that the University receives the full tuition fee. 

Tuition fees apply for the period September 2025 to April 2026 and must be paid by 31 October 2025. Full details of the tuition fees are available here
