Ostrava: The
industrial diamond

The third largest city in the Czech Republic, it is a centre of industry and a university town where students comprise approximately 14 % of the population. It is excellently located, with superb public transport links that allow travel to five European capitals within 4 hours for less than EUR 40.

Ostrava offers a wide range of cultural events and festivals. You can attend the Febiofest International Film Festival, which showcases the latest films from around the world.

Enjoy the musical atmosphere at the Colours of Ostrava or Beats for Love, two of the largest music festivals in Central Europe, held in the unique space of Dolní Vítkovice.

Your gateway to academic life

Ostrava is also an affordable city for students. The cost of living and housing is relatively lower than in other parts of Europe, enabling students to take advantage of a wider range of opportunities and activities outside of their studies. Additionally, Ostrava is also surrounded by picturesque nature. The Beskydy Mountains, a beautiful mountain range with numerous hiking trails and ski resorts, are close to the city. You can enjoy walks in the Poodří Nature Reserve, which is home to many rare plants and animals.
